May 16, 2009 - Saturday - CelebrAsian Festival
Drake VASA members will participate in the CelebrAsian festival in downtown Des Moines near the Historical Building Center. The festival starts at 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM and VASA members will perform during the 20-minute opening ceremony. There will be events and fun activities throughout the whole day at the festival. There are several members of Drake VASA members graduating today at the Drake commencement of 2009.
May 9, 2009 - Saturday - Tulip Festival and Picnic
Join us for the Tulip Festival that will happen on this Saturday in Pella, Iowa. Immerse yourself in the old-world charm of the Netherlands as you stroll along our brick streets visiting our Dutch storybook storefronts, the Molengracht canal, and our authentic 1850's working windmill. And above all, see all sorts of beautiful bloomed tulips! After the tulip festival, VASA members will have a year-end picnic at a park. Contact VASA for more information.
March 28, 2009 - Saturday - Pho and Bun Bo Hue Night
There will be a pho and bun bo hue night provided by the Phan Twins and will be at their house. Every Drake VASA members are invited as a fun get-together and a group reunion after coming back from Spring Break. This will be an opportunity to enjoy food, games, music/karaoke, movies, and whatever comes. The event is from 5 PM - 12:00 AM or later if people decide to stay.
March 7, 2009 - Saturday - Thank You Dinner at A Dong
Drake VASA is holding a "Thank You" dinner to appreciate and reward all those who helped out during the Tet celebration. Those who helped out are welcome to come and the meal will be covered. If you didn't help out, you are also welcome to come and join too, but you must provide your own meal. And yes, friends can come along too. Map to get there.
February 7, 2009 - Saturday - Des Moines Community Tet Celebration
Drake VASA members will participate in the all-day event of the Des Moines Community Tet Celebration at the Iowa State Fairgrounds. They will perform their traditional, Trong Com, and modern dances as part of the all-day program provided by the community.
January 31, 2009 - Saturday - VASA 2009 Tet-Vietnamese New Years Celebration
Drake VASA would like to invite friends, family, and all students to their biggest and most important event of the year - the Vietnamese New Year, Tet!! There will be performances such as the Dragon Dance and performers for the traditional and modern dance, fashion show, singing, music, performances in the arts (sword fighting), raffle tickets for prizes, food (provided by Sodexho), and much...much more. After the program, the floor is open to a dance party with DJs and music until midnight. Come and celebrate the Asian New Years with us!!

December 12, 2008 - Friday - Viethope Charity Dance
In time for the holiday season, the Vietnamese-American Student Association (VASA) and the Drake Education Association (DEA) would like to invite you to our VietHope Charity Dance. Viethope is an organization that raises money to help finance the educational future of children in Vietnam who live under poverty. This charity event strives to raise money through your goodwill to help contribute to Viethope's cause. We hope you can join us in adding sparkles of hope in the lives of these children.
The theme for this year's Viethope is "Reaching for the Stars". There will be free foods, awesome music, and entertaining activities for all attendees.

November 22, 2008 - Saturday - Thanksgiving Dinner Potluck
Drake VASA will host a POTLUCK Thanksgiving dinner to celebrate and enjoy traditional Thanksgiving food. There will be lots of food to enjoy and games to play. Also, there will be the Secret Santa name drawing for the upcoming Christmas holiday. The time will be from 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM and the location will be at La Casa near Drake University. Come and enjoy the fun!
November 8, 2008 - Saturday - ISA International Night: 1001 Nights
International Student Association night - VASA members will be part of the program "1001 Nights" and will perform their traditional dance to represent the vietnamese culture. After the program ends, everyone will enjoy dinner with the international food provided by ISA, prepared by Sodexho of Drake University. The time will be from 7:00 PM - Midnight. The performance will be in Sheslow Auditorium near Old Main and dinner will take place at Parents Hall of Olmstead building.
