January 22, 2011 - Drake VASA's annual TET (New Year) celebration

Drake VASA is hosting its own TET New Year celebration on January 22, 2011. Everyone in the community is invited to this event and there will be raffle tickets, dinner, performances, and fun. It is the best event provided by Drake VASA and it has been successful every year - many enjoy the event to celebrate the Asian New Year. Come support us.

When: January 22nd, 2011 from 7-10pm
Where: Parents Hall, Olmsted Center at Drake University
Tickets: $5/person, kids 10 & under - free
What's included: Full self-served dinner included.

November 19, 2010 - Volunteering

VASA would like to invite everyone to VASA's 4th annual Viethope charity event this Saturday, November 20, 2010.
We're hosting a Mario Kart Wii tournament from 7pm-10pm at the Pomerantz Stage in Olmsted Center.

Cost: Free
Donations greatly appreciated!
100% of our proceeds will be donated to Viethope.
Registration to participate in the tournament starts at 7pm and will end at 7:30pm
Come and join us for a fun-filled night with lots of food, entertainment, games, and many great PRIZES!

November 16, 2010 - Volunteering

Viethope is a U.S.-based non-profit organization that strives to provide underprivileged children in Vietnam with the education that they have always dreamed of. As many of you may know, in certain parts of the world, education is taken for granted; while in others, education is undoubtedly a hard-earned privilege. Dom Helder Camara once said, "When we are dreaming alone, it is only a dream. When we are dreaming with others, it is the beginning of reality." We hope that together we can build a better world, one step at a time, by making this dream a reality for the poverty stricken children in Vietnam.

On Friday November 18, we will be volunteering in the form of bell-ringing for the Salvation Army from 4pm-6pm in the Capital Square Skywalk downtown. We will meet in Olmsted at 3:40 to arrange rides there. Come and join us.

November 4, 2010 - Thursday - Meeting Minutes

We will be hosting a Game Night for a cause - Proceeds go to Viethope to support children's education in Vietnam.

October 21, 2010 - Thursday Halloween Party!!

VASA is having a Halloween Party this Thursday at 7:00 P.M. It's going to be a potluck so bring some food, drinks, or games. It's at Bao and Huy's place: 2220 Carpenter Ave. DSM, IA.

October 7, 2010 - Thursday - Meeting Minutes

Hey everyone at the last meeting we talked about the Halloween party and Viethope. The Halloween party will be be Thursday Oct. 21st @ 7:00 pm it will be a potluck and the tentative place is Bao and Huy's. Viethope will be Sat. Nov. 20th. There will be a meeting this Thursday 7:00 in upper Olmsted and we will try to work out some of the details then. See you on Thursday.

September 21, 2010 - Thursday - Meeting Minutes

Congratulations to members who have been selected for the cabinet for 2010-2011 academic year.

Lantern Night is tentatively set for October 7th at 6 PM - 9 PM in the Breezeway in Olmsted. Come to this exciting event where friends come together to prepare lanterns by drawing and coloring them. One of the highlight event for VASA, so don't miss out!

Susan Komen for the Cure (Komen Race for the Cure) is set for Saturday October 23. We have volunteers that will be handing out bottled water at the finish line (or somewhere along the path) from 8AM - 11 AM. Sign up to volunteer if you haven't already.

September 16, 2010 - Thursday - Meeting Minutes

We have volunteering opportunity available for the Saturday of October 2nd at 11:00 AM that will involve painting a house. Come and join us with this volunteering opportunity. It will be a lot of fun.
